Many people the world over could be forgiven for scrambling for the atlas yesterday when Burnley FC made it through to the English Premier League via the play-offs. Let’s face it, it’s one of the most popular leagues in the world, and yet many fans who follow English football from afar had probably never heard of the town, the smallest to feature in the Premier League with a population of just over 70,000, let alone knew where it was. Of course, Burnley is in Lancashire in north-west England, and will next season be enjoying their local derby fixture against Blackburn which is just 11 miles away. If you’re visiting Turf Moor (Burnley’s ground) next season, why not made a day of it and see some of Burnley’s other attractions. Towneley Hall & Park is just one of a number of places to visit in the area.
So where’s Burnley then?
