UK’s top ten university cities

MSN has listed its top ten university cities in the UK.  It lists the towns and cities that offer both visitors and students the whole package, great sights, sounds and activities, good value, excellent nightlife and a brilliant atmosphere.  Featuring on the list is bustling Manchester which is described as a musical metropolis and offers regenerated districts such as Salford Quays.  It is home to the much talked about Lowry Centre and even has a district dedicated to curry.  Also on the list is the vibrant city of Glasgow with its throbbing nightlife, excellent shopping and enviable locations for live music.  Stroll past quirky cafes, restaurants and independent pubs serving an array of local beers and warming drams.  Of course no list would be complete without the capital of culture, Liverpool.  Over the decades the city has been regenerated and offers the glistening river Mersey, two magnificent cathedrals and the Royal Liver building.  It boasts great pubs and clubs and the northern branch of the Tate galleries.  Topping the list at number one is the city of Newcastle. From the Angel of the North to Alan Shearer, Newcastle is a city that’s not short of icons.  It is home to the Baltic art gallery, the famous Millenium Bridge and the Sage Centre.  Nightlife is second to none and dramatic countryside is never far away.  Does your city make the list?
