Bleat a path to the 2009 Vale of Rydal Sheepdog Trials

Get to the Lake District by hook or by crook this year, if you wish to experience one of the country’s most traditional rural events, amidst some of Britain’s most breathtaking scenery.

Anyone who loved the TV programme ‘One Man and His Dog’ will revel in a day out at The 106th Vale of Rydal Sheepdog Trials and Hound Show, at Rydal Park, one mile north of Ambleside, on Thursday, 13th August 2009.

This friendly and relaxed country day out has been part of the area’s heritage since 1901. Visitors are welcome and can get a great view from a hill dividing two different courses on which dogs perform. Their enjoyment is enhanced by amusing commentary from Cumbria Tourism’s Personality of the Year, Glenn Tubman, who has commentated at this event for 50 years.
