Attracting crowds of almost 100,000 people, the Dawlish Carnival in South Devon will this year run from 15th to 22nd August 2009, and is an eight-day extravaganza with around twelve hours of entertainment each day. The week’s highlight will be a fantastic Air Show on Thursday, 20th August, which is recognised as one of the UK’s largest free events.
The carnival week will incorporate a huge array of attractions and activities from children’s fancy dress, dog shows, talent competitions, clay modelling and a junior fun run to raft races, “it’s a knockout!” competitions, bingo and pram racing around the town!
The five-hour air show will feature an incredible acrobatic display by the world-famous Red Arrows plus a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, air sea and rescue displays and a fly-past by jets, helicopters and prop aircraft from across the decades. Entertainment will continue into the evening culminating with a live music show until 11pm.
