Today’s picture of the day is of Chillingham Castle in Northumberland.  In the 14th Century Chillingham became a fortified castle.  Over the many years the castle has welcomed many a royal visitor and was a fortress during the border feuds.  In the 18th and 19th Century the castle was improved and the gardens and grounds were refined.
