London, Paris, Grasmere?

Paris, Barcelona and London may have its great restaurants but among their exalted company is the humble Jumble Room in Grasmere, according to The Sunday Times. The restaurant – so-called for its mish mash mix of decorations and furnishings (including LP covers & newspaper prints in the loos) – was named No 1 in its list of 20 Great Little Restaurants in Europe. “The heartiest, happiest restaurant in the Lakes,” declared The ST: “Where the food is as eclectic as the décor.” The restaurant, whose guests sometimes include Sting and Trudi Styler who have a house nearby, has a menu that changes monthly. Diners can expect to find oak smoked duck crostini, Urswick steak and Hyderabad chicken.
