Re-opening of The Great Tower gives Dover Castle a visitor boost

Visitors to Dover Castle have dramatically increased since the re-opening of The Great Tower last Summer with a 35% rise in total visitors this year (1st April 2010 – 31st July 2010) versus last. Since opening on 1st August 2009, over 355,000 people have visited The Great Tower which was totally transformed, transporting guests back to the Middle Ages and the royal court of Henry II.

Dover Castle has been keen to attract a bigger family audience and has seen family visitors are up 14% compared to last year. The Tower’s costume characters including Henry II, his wilful wife and rebellious son have proved particularly popular amongst children.
