Liverpool Bluecoat recreates John Lennon bed-in event

The Liverpool Bluecoat is celebrating what would have been the 70th birthday of John Lennon with a 62 day recreation of his famous bed-in event with Yoko Ono.

In 1969, John Lennon and Yoko Ono spent their honeymoon sitting in bed firstly in Amsterdam and then Montreal as a non-violent protest against the Vietnam War. Now the Liverpool Bluecoat is to recreate this event using a selection of poets, musicians, dancers, live artists and gay rights groups who will each be given between four and five hours in bed to discuss war and peace in the modern world with members of the public.

The event will last for 62 days from the 9th October when the original event started, until the 30th anniverary of John’s assassination – a total of 62 days in bed.

There’s no word on whether Yoko will be attending the event, but if she’s in the area I have a suspicion she might make an appearance. More details can be found on The Bluecoat web site.
