The "English Riveria" title seems to be claimed by various areas although it's probably most publicised by Torbay....not too sure they can legitimately lay claim to it.

Taking a very unscientific poll in the Midlands this weekend, the vast majority actually thought The English Riveria was Cornwall, so maybe Torbay tourist board need to do a little geography work too.

As for Cornwall vs England - I know there is a strong Cornish independence movement although I guess it's a little more hidden from the tourists. Can't say I blame the Cornish mind you as they get as overlooked as us lot up north by the authorities.

Although I would have to agree that Cornwall does have a warmer climate. The suggestion that Cornwall is the English Riveria is remarkably inaccurate and insensitive. Inaccurate as Torbay is named the English Riveria. Insensitive because the Cornish are not English.
This is why that Cornwall or Kernow in the native tongue is called the Cornish Riveria. Please do come and enjoy our little Celtic part of the world but remember that we are Cornish first and foremost.
