As we are in the middle of National Pet Month (7th April – 7th May 2012), promoting responsible pet ownership and the benefits of pets for people and of people for pets, we thought it was a great time to let you know about a selection of luxury self-catering properties where you and your pet can enjoy a holiday together.
Boutique self-catering company Sheepskin now have seven luxurious cottages in their unique collection that enable you to enjoy your holiday with your pet without having to sacrifice staying in a great place. Each of the properties are surrounded by inspiring landscapes and large outdoor space, great for walks; dog and owner heaven.
New to the Sheepskin collection in April 2012, stunning Red Kite Barn is an idyllic hideaway is set in 80 private acres perfect for a family getaway. This contemporary barn blends rustic chic style with a Moroccan feel in the bedrooms. Enjoy relaxing with a film on the projector screen in the lounge whilst you warm your toes by the quirky log burner. Your dog will enjoy the acres of woods surrounding the house, plenty to explore! Red Kite Barn has 2 beautifully decorated king size bedrooms – 1 with an en-suite and a twin bedroom perfect for the children to sleep.
Although Red Kite Barn is nestled away in a quiet valley it has some great local food nearby as it’s just 3 miles from The oldest pub in Powys, The Red Lion at Llanafan Fawr and four miles from a rare breed butcher in Newbridge on Wye.
This beautiful, cosy cottage is situated near the village of Ysbyty Ifan in Snowdonia, perfect for walking. Tailors Cottage is the perfect for a small family retreat with 2 double bedroom, well equipped kitchen and stylish, lounge with deep sink into sofa. With its cosy yet contemporary design it is a home away from home in a peaceful location near Snowdonia National Park – a great place for dog walking.
Magnificent Music Mill, in the quaint village of Hathersage in the Peak District, is a great destination for a family or a group of 6 with 2 king size bedrooms, 1 double bedroom and an open plan kitchen for the dog. The Music Mill is tucked away at the edge of the village but still within striking distance of great places to eat. The dog will be in its element walking through the beautiful Peak District as will you. Enjoy the views and escape from the city life.
Part of the Sheepskin collection since their launch in December 2009 this wonderful, secluded property now welcomes dogs. Lletty is situated in the Brecon Beacons in Carmarthanshire with incredible views and lots of outdoor space to explore, it’s ideal for a family or a group of 6 and your dog will be in its element. The house is reached by a track through forests where you can take time away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Lletty has two beautiful double bedrooms and one twin bedroom and all look out across the valley to the mountains. Enjoy the decking outside of Lletty where your family plus dog can dine outside in the warmer months, perfect for a summer’s evening.
Surrounded by the beautiful, Snowdonia countryside Gelli Graean Farmhouse is one of our larger properties perfect for groups of friends or large families. With 3 king size double bedrooms and an additional small double and a twin both suitable for children, the property can sleep up to 10 guests. One of the many highlights of this beautiful converted farm house is the spacious kitchen. Take the opportunity to practise your culinary skills, perfect for a night in with great food and wine. Your dog will enjoy a perfect sleep with the warmth of the Aga!
Tamar Forge and Tamar Counting House
A lazy hideaway in Tavistock near the Devon/Cornwall border. These two rustic cottages are just an apple tree apart. Each of the cottages has a beautiful double bedroom with an en-suite shower room. A perfect retreat for a family of four, using both of the cottages or a couple plus the dog with only a short drive to the beach and great walks across the Devonshire countryside.
