Day 18 of the Olympic Torch relay – Derry Londonderry to Newry
Today is day 18 of 70 for the London 2012 Olympic torch relay and will see the torch travel from Derry Londonderry at 7:26am to Newry at 6:25pm, passing through New Buildings, Magheramason, Bready, Ballymagorry, Strabane, Sion Mills, Omagh, Dromore, Irvinestown, Enniskillen, Fivemiletown, Clogher, Augher, Aughnacloy, Caledon, Armagh, Portadown, Gilford and Banbridge along the way.
This route covers the southern half of Northern Ireland and incorporates Enniskillen Castle (the furthest west the torch will go) and the stunning limestone formations known as the Marble Arch caves, before crossing to the city of Newry, close to the border with Ireland.
Ryan Cinnamond from Newry will be the final torchbearer of the day and will carry the flame into the Páirc Esler for an evening celebration where a cauldron will be lit.
