Day 21 of the Olympic Torch relay – Stranraer to Glasgow
Today is day 21 of 70 for the London 2012 Olympic torch relay and will see the torch travel from Stranraer at 6:09am to Glasgow at 5:48pm, passing through Cairnryan, Ballantrae, Girvan, Turnberry, Maidens, Kirkoswald, Maybole, Alloway, Ayr, Kilmarnock, Kilmaurs, Stewarton, Dunlop, Barrmill, Beith, Lochwinnoch, Kilmacolm, Port Glasgow, Rutherglen, Glasgow and Giffnock along the way.
The flame will now spend the next seven days in Scotland, travelling as far afield as Orkney and Shetland, as well as to the Outer Hebrides. Today’s proceedings will conclude with a celebration in Glasgow’s George Square.
Rower Katherine Grainger, who has won silver medals at each of the past three Olympics, Olympic curling gold medallist Rhona Martin and stunt cyclist Danny Mackaskill will all be involved in today’s relay.
