Day 27 of the Olympic Torch relay – Edinburgh to Alnwick
Today is day 27 of 70 for the London 2012 Olympic torch relay and will see the torch travel from Edinburgh at 7:08am to Alnwick at 6:59pm, passing through Duddingston, Musselburgh, Dalkeith, Lasswade, Loanhead, Bilston, Milton Bridge, Penicuik, Eddleston, Peebles, Innerleithen, Walkerburn, Selkirk, Galashiels, Earlston, Gordon, Greenlaw, Duns, Chirnside, Foulden, Berwick-Upon-Tweed and Bamburgh along the way.
Alnwick Town Council have embraced this opportunity and are running a week-long festival in the town from 9th to 15th June. This evening a celebration will take place at Alnwick Pastures.
Among today’s torchbearers will be 19-year-old Lisa Robertson, from Galashiels, carrying the torch through Selkirk. Lisa has represented Scotland in both rugby and athletics and hopes to go on to play rugby for the British Lionesses..
