Day 31 of the Olympic Torch relay – Middlesbrough to Hull

Today is day 31 of 70 for the London 2012 Olympic torch relay and will see the torch travel from Middlesbrough at 6:39am to Hull at 4:56pm, passing through Redcar, Marske-by-the-Sea, Saltburn-by-the-Sea, Brotton, Carlin How, Loftus, Hinderwell, Lythe, Sandsend, Whitby, Pickering, Scarborough, Filey, Bridlington and Beverley along the way.

The first torchbearer of the day James Coupland, aged 17, will carry the flame across Middlesbrough’s landmark Transporter Bridge. The flame will later continue the route on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway from Whitby to Pickering.

In Pickering the torch will be carried by Great Britain rower Tom Ransley, 26, who was part of the crew that won silver at the 2010 World Championships.

An evening celebration at West Park in Hull will conclude the day’s proceedings.
