Day 38 of the Olympic Torch relay – Leeds to Sheffield
Today is day 38 of 70 for the London 2012 Olympic torch relay and will see the torch travel from Leeds at 7:17am to Sheffield at 5:42pm, passing through Hunslet, Beeston, Morley, Batley, Dewsbury, Wakefield, Castleford, Pontefract, Ackworth, Lundwood, Cundy Cross, Barnsley, Darton, Kexbrough, Chapeltown, Ecclesfield andParson Cross along the way.
This is a 76-mile journey that takes the flame from West Yorkshire to South Yorkshire, passing through rugby league heartlands. In the afternoon the torch will call at the National Coal Mining Museum at Overton and at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
Of today’s142 torchbearers, arguably the most high profile will be London 2012 chairman, Lord Coe, who will carry the torch in his home city of Sheffield.
