Day 46 of the Olympic Torch relay – Leicester to Peterborough
Today is day 46 of 70 for the London 2012 Olympic torch relay and will see the torch travel from Leicester at 7:17am to Peterborough at 6:35pm, passing through Quorn, Loughborough, Hoton, Wymeswold, Asfordby, Melton Mowbray, Langham, Oakham, Uppingham and Stamford along the way.
Perhaps the highlight of day 46 will be when stuntman Eric Scott, the first torchbearer of the day, lifts off with the flame on a jet pack at the National Space Centre. The remainder of the day’s proceedings will see the flame visit the Sir Dennis Rooke Building at Loughborough University, Burghley House and the Cathedral Gardens in Peterborough, as well as going on two train journeys and a boat trip. High profile torchbearers will include ex-England football and Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker, and GB Paralympian Richard Whitehead.
The day will end with an evening celebration at The Embankment in Peterborough.
