Day 48 of the Olympic Torch relay – Norwich to Ipswich

Today is day 48 of 70 for the London 2012 Olympic torch relay and will see the torch travel between the two East Anglian county towns of Norwich in Norfolk at 6:55am to Ipswich in Suffolk at 6:19pm, passing through Acle, Filby, Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft, Wrentham, Reydon, Southwold, Kelsale, Saxmundham, Aldeburgh, Wickham Market, Ufford, Melton, Woodbridge and Felixstowe along the way.

The torch will pass through several distinct towns on its way to Ipswich such as Aldeburgh which is still famous for connections with composer Benjamin Britten and hosts a classical music festival each year in honour of this connection.

In contrast to the operatic tones of Aldeburgh, the torch will later pass through the popular seaside town of Felixstowe which in itself is a contrasting town with family beaches on one side, and the UK’s largest container port just next door.

Eventually the torch will arrive in the Suffolk town of Ipswich, famous for its connections to footballing greats Alf Ramsey, Bobby Robson and Roy Keane.
