Today’s picture of the day is of Big Ben in London. Thought by many to refer to the tower or the clock, the name ‘Big Ben’ is in fact the name of the bell inside. The tower is 316 feet high and was completed in the late 1850s. Somewhat surprisingly, the clock mechanism weighs around five tonnes.

the tower is St Stephen’s Tower
Saint Stephen’s tower. I used to work on the Westminster Jubilee Line Underground Station. Took me a long time to realise that it was easier ti look up instead of at my wrist for the time!
Thanks for that, both of you. By the way, did you know that this year is Big Ben’s 150th anniversary?
