The Telegraph newspaper has named Eastbourne as being the sunniest place in the UK. It officially has the most hours of sunshine during February. Eastbourne is situated in a protected spot on the Sussex coast and is surrounded by the picturesque South Downs. It recorded 14 hours more sunshine in February than the national average. A spokesperson for Eastbourne Borough Council said “February was a bright month for Eastbourne and it is good news for the resort that it continues to be named the sunniest town in the country.” A continued record of sunshine hours makes Eastbourne a top holiday tourist destination and it welcomes over 4 million tourists each year.
