There are many ways to relief stress, but perhaps one of the best and oldest is to try to find your way through Hampton Court Maze at Hampton Court Palace. The 300 year old maze has been attracting visitors wanting to find a way to escape, or just a little fun and is still as popular as ever.

Of course there’s plenty of other things to do at Hampton Court including the gardens, Henry VIII’s Great Hall, The Chapel Royal and Kids Ghost Trail.

Visit the world’s oldest football ground – Sheffield United

They might not be exactly top of the leagues anymore, but Sheffield United football club will always have bragging rights over their nearby rivals Sheffield Wednesday – they own the oldest football club in the world.

Bramall Lane – home of Sheffield United – is also the oldest football ground in the world and diehard football fans can visit the stadium and take in the atmosphere of where the ‘beautiful game’ and possibly the most popular professional sport in the world began. Along with clubs such as Accrington Stanley (remember the milk adverts?) and Preston North End they were part of the foundations of what became the Football League around 1881.

Any football fans wanting to taste a bit of history – see the Sheffield United web site.

Sheffield United also have an attached Copthorne hotel.

Real time snow and rain from Google!

Living in the Lake District, you get used to a bit of rain here and there.  I must admit I’ve never really understood people who love the Lakes but complain about the weather – afterall, the lush green hills and the lakes wouldn’t be fair if we didn’t have a fair bit now and again.

Anyway, for those ‘fair weather’ fans of the county who want to see what it’s like before they come, there’s now the ability to see realtime rain and snow on Google Earth.  How amazing is that?!

With their new clouds layer, you can see realtime weather patterns across the globe.  It’s currently limited to just parts of North America and Western Europe but no doubt it’ll have a more global representation with time.

The ultimate way to see Yorkshire’s three peaks

0

According to some, climbing Yorkshire’s three highest peaks of Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-Ghent is the pinnacle of adventure. Perhaps they’ve never contemplated taking this to a new level and gliding over the magnificence of the three peaks in a small wicker basket.

Airbourne Tours of Yorkshire can now give you this chance to experience the three peaks just like the  birds, with only the  occasional sound of the balloon burner and perhaps the odd curious bird to break the silence. This might well be the best way to explore Yorkshire without needing a glider licence.

Airbourne Tours have been running balloon trips over yorkshire since 1988 so you are in experienced hands.

Of course if you ever wanted to learn how to fly a hot air balloon, they can also provide tuition services, but for most of us simply enjoying the ride will provide the thrill of a lifetime.

More information on Yorkshire balloon trips – see the Airbourne Tours web site.
