UK hotels on Twitter

Filed under Accommodation

With Twitter having seen a more than 10-fold increase in usage in the UK in the last 12 months, it’s interesting to see that individuals involved in the UK tourist industry are slowly but surely finding their feet with the latest social networking tool.  Hotels in the UK that we (@ukseries) have found are:

@BotleyPark (Macdonald Botley Park Hotel, Southampton)
@BrownsHotel (Brown’s Hotel, London)
@CairngormHotel (Cairngorm Hotel, Aviemore, Highlands)
@Chatsworthhotel (Chatsworth Hotel, Skegness, Lincolnshire)
@CrerarHotels (Crerar Hotels, Scotland and Yorkshire)
@GarthHotel (Garth Hotel, Grantown-on-Spey, Highlands)
@LindethHowe (Lindeth Howe Hotel, Bowness, Cumbria)
@MacdonaldHotels (Macdonald Hotels, UK)
@NewForestHotels (New Forest Hotels, Hampshire)
@Rad_Ed_Hotels (Radisson Edwardian, London and Manchester)
@staffordhotel (The Stafford Hotel, London)
@Strattonshotel (Strattons Hotel, Swaffham, Norfolk)
@TheMayFairHotel (The May Fair Hotel, London)
@TheSpiresSuites (The Spires Suites, UK)
@WatergateBay (Watergate Bay Hotel, Cornwall)
@watermillhotel (Watermill Hotel, Paisley, Scotland)
@VerityWebster (Webster Hotels, Scotland)

Of course, we won’t have identified them all. If you’re a hotel in the UK that we’ve missed off the list, or you are UK hotel that is new to Twitter, please tell us by posting a comment.  We’d be happy to follow you and hope that you’ll also want to follow us.  We’ll try to produce similar lists for other accommodation providers such as a B&B or holiday cottage owners in the near future.  We haven’t forgotten you!

    Thanks, Barry… will get you included also in our UK restaurant list that we’ll publish later.

    To Robert… you gained a bit of an alphabetical advantage there, hence being top. You’d still have fared quite well if I’d listed everyone by number of followers, though:

    @TheSpiresSuites 530 followers
    @TheMayFairHotel 312 followers
    @VerityWebster 205 followers
    @BotleyPark 191 followers
    @WatergateBay 172 followers
    @watermillhotel 95 followers
    @CrerarHotels 90 followers
    @MacdonaldHotels 85 followers
    @BrownsHotel 58 followers
    @GarthHotel 58 followers
    @Rad_Ed_Hotels 45 followers
    @bazzarussells 43 followers
    @CairngormHotel 40 followers
    @LindethHowe 29 followers
    @NewForestHotels 26 followers
    @Strattonshotel 17 followers
    @Chatsworthhotel 15 followers
    @staffordhotel 7 followers

    With regards to ‘when is the best time to tweet’, I started a discussion on this topic on the Aardvark Business forum here: http://www.aardvarkbusiness.net/chat/viewtopic.php?t=19116

    You might like to have a read of the responses.

    Kind regards
