The best B&B in England

Enjoy England has declared Augill Castle, near Kirkby Stephen in Cumbria the winner of their annual challenge to find the best.  The Victorian B&B was built in 1841 and is an impressive sight.  It has lots of magnificent turrets, Gothic windows and a crenelated roof.  It has a fascinating history and was once a correction facility for boys and home to a suspect in the Jack the Ripper case.  The B&B is surrounded by 15 acres of picturesque grounds and inside are four wonderful public rooms with an opulent atmosphere and lots of antiques.  Enjoy a delicious meal in the dining room which prides itself on serving locally sourced produce.  Relax in the beautiful bedrooms offering turrets for wardrobes, stain glass windows and an irresistible four poster bath!  Prices start from £80 per person.
