There’s no denying the sheer pleasure of ice cream on a summer’s day and the North East is home to some of the UK’s best ice cream producing farms where you can find your perfect flavour this summer.

Archer’s Jersey Ice Cream Parlour, Walworth, Tees Valley
Just 5 miles west of Darlington town centre at Walworth Gate, Archer’s Jersey Ice Cream Parlour is located on a working dairy farm. Taste a great selection of home-made Jersey Ice Cream made with milk produced by their pedigree Jersey cows. A ‘Cow to Cone’ experience is available to educational groups.

Doddington Dairy, Wooler, Northumberland
Doddington Dairy is situated on a family farm, nestled at the bottom of the Cheviot Hills in the Glendale Valley of Northumberland. Milk from the family herd of dairy cows is used to produce a number of delicious flavours. In addition to being available in many outlets across the region, Doddington Ice Cream has something unique to the UK, it’s very own ice cream Honesty Box. It’s open all hours and used by walkers, cyclists and people driving through the area to treat themselves to a delicious Doddington Ice Cream. The cost is only £1 and a small donation from each sale at the Honesty Box goes to a local charity.

Morwick Dairy Ice Cream Parlour, Warkworth, Northumberland
Located just outside the picturesque village of Warkworth, Morwick Dairy Ice Cream Parlour serves award-winning, top quality farmhouse dairy ice cream from an award winning dairy herd. Located on a working and fully operational farm the parlour offers the opportunity to learn the history behind ice cream and to witness the ice cream making process in action.

Vallum Farm Ice Cream and Tea Parlour, East Wallhouses, Northumberland
Located in the middle of stunning Hadrian’s Wall country and yet only 15 minutes drive from Newcastle, Vallum Farm is a haven for ice cream and food lovers alike. The tea room serves delicious home-cooked food using local produce, including wonderful seasonal vegetables grown in their pond field. There is a great outdoor children’s play area, wildlife havens, lovely country walks, a smokery and you can even pick your own seasonal veg!

Wheelbirks Farm, Stocksfield, Northumberland
Set in the idyllic Northumberland countryside, Wheelbirks Farm offers traditional ice cream as well as fresh home cooked food where quality and taste is guaranteed. With over 120 cows based on the farm, all ice creams are made fresh from rich and creamy Jersey cow’s milk. As well as having a full range of flavours varying from traditional favourites to new and exciting creations, the farm also boasts an indoor and outdoor play area for little ones to enjoy.
