Recently we covered Britain’s smallest houses, but have now found an even more unusual house – the thin house of Thurloe Square, Knightsbridge in the centre of London.
This remarkable structure looks like it might have popped out of the pages of Alice in Wonderland, but it is indeed real (as proven by Google Streetview) and is indeed very very thin – at least on one corner.
Whether the house is lived in or offices we’re unable to find out, but luckily for the residents there the house does widen out to a more normal size at the other side. The reason for this shape seems to be the railway line which runs behind the house and into South Kensington underground station.
The thin house has certainly become rather a tourist attraction and baffled visitors are often seen trying to work out how or why this house was built.
