The nights might be drawing in, but that’s a perfect excuse for Derby to light up with a new festival called “Gleam: Festival of Light”.
From the 12th to 20th November, Derby city centre will launch a week of illuminating art with buildings in the city’s Market Place being lit up by the projection, light mapping, and various interactive technologies.
Alongside this, there will be the Light Trail of illuminated lanterns around the Cathedral Quarter, with the Cathedral building itself featuring interactive installations and a light garden.
Family workshops will be going on for the entire length of the festival with fire drawing and lantern making, and the artwork created during these workshops will form part of the Lantern Parade and River Fire Display.
For full details on all the events taking place, see the Gleam web site.
If you’re looking for more light shows in November, the Cragside Estate in Northumberland has the Electric Estate going on through much of the month.
