February 3rd sees the beginning of the Chinese New Year which is the Year of the Rabbit, along with all the usual celebrations in London.
Although the Chinese New Year starts on Thursday February 3rd (working by the Gregorian Calendar), the main celebrations in London will take place on Sunday 6th February starting in Trafalgar Square.
The official opening ceremony starts at 12 noon in Trafalgar Square, followed by music, dance, Chinese dragons, lions, acrobatics and firecrackers until 6pm.
Of course there will be plenty of celebrations in Chinatown and Shaftesbury Avenue with various food stalls and displays, so well worth a look from tomorrow onwards. Chinatown should be lit up quite spectacularly with Chinese Lanterns.
