Have a Royal break at Charles and Camilla’s Welsh farmhouse

It isn’t often that you get the chance to stay in a Royal residence, but that’s exactly what you can do at Llwynywermod Farm in Wales which is the Welsh retreat for Charles and Camilla.

The pretty holiday cottage, the name of which is actually pronounced “Clanwormwood”, is set close to Llandovery in Carmarthenshire, and is a genuine royal retreat. It doesn’t have any throne rooms or grand paintings of kings & queens, at least in the parts where the public can access, so you will find what appears to be just a pleasant country getaway.

The house itself follows much of the couple’s own philosophies such as the insulation which is made of sheep’s wool and the colour scheme is a pale blue which seems to be a favourite of Camilla. Around the farm the wildlife seems to be very much enjoying their influence with an abundence of birds flying around, even during the Winter.

So how will you know this is a royal retreat? Well, the fact that there are no signs hinting at the actual location even at the farmtrack off a little countryroad, and perhaps the two police cars standing near the gate (up the path). There are even sentry boxes around the grounds of the farm, but those are empty while the royal couple aren’t in residence and the other security is very unobtrusive and around the outside of the property gates.

Surprisingly, you don’t pay a premium either for the accommodation with prices around £500 a week during the Winter. Oh and yes, the farm does have very quick wireless Internet.
