There are many differences around Britain, but one thing that we all seem to have in common is a love of the great British breakfast.
So why is finding a decent quality breakfast so hard? Well, now it’s not with the help of Guardian readers who’ve recommended these place to tuck in to your bacon and eggs.
Adam’s Cafe in Liverpool seems to get the most votes for producing the best British breakfast in the country, and possibly one of the cheapest too at around £3.50.
Described as a “tiny cafe”, Adam’s is situated in the heart of student-land of Liverpool and very importantly, all the food is grilled not fried making this cafe an ideal stop on the “morning after the night before”.

Kelly’s Takeaway in Ullapool takes us into the Highlands of Scotland. The cafe is one of those where they serve proper fried food such as black pudding and bacon with the fat left on. It might not be ideal for your New Years resolution to diet, but that can always start next week.

Hackney City Farm isn’t quite farm to fork, but all the food for the breakfasts is sourced locally thus you get a fresh breakfast. Ideal for those who want to get a little closer to the farmhouse breakfast experience, but without leaving the city.

Café du Parc in Wimbledon is one of those small local cafes serving good honest food to the folks of Wimbledon. The cafe is very close to the Wimbledon Park tube station and offers breakfast for under a fiver, which is remarkably cheap for any breakfast.

Billie’s Cafe in Brighton is one of a dying breed – a family owned and run cafe serving real breakfasts. Luckily for the residents of Brighton, Billie’s is doing this exceptionally well and even looks the part with PVC tablecloths and real flowers on the tables.
Alongside the traditional fry-up, you can find the vegetarian options and even “pile of fried potatoes with various toppings from beans and sausages to bacon and avocado”. I think I’d stick to the fry-up myself.
