A bus shelter in Shetland has proven that with a little time and dedication the traditional bland windswept bus shelter can be turned into a most comfortable place to wait for the number 49 bus.
This particular bus shelter was originally a replacement after the original shelter on the island of Unst was blown away in 1996 – not surprising considering this is also one of the most northerly inhabited islands in Britain.
Sometime after the bus shelter was built, extra decorations started appearing and soon it became quite heavily decorated with a comfy seat, TV (not connected) and paintings. No one knows who started decorating the shelter, but the décor now keeps getting a makeover and has become an attraction both for the locals & tourists alike.
The bus shelter even has its own Unst Bus Shelter web site.
