It seems somewhat appropriate that the Bath Comedy Festival should start on April Fools Day although you’d be foolish to miss this eclectic mix of established comedians and new up and coming acts!
A little like the Edinburgh Fringe, the festival takes place in various venues around the fare city of Bath, kicking off with the Roaming Romans, Street Theatre and Flash Mob Moments courtesy of the Comedy Academy from the Bath Spa University.
One of the acts is the great Arthur Smith who was responsible for writing sketches for some of the greatest TV and stage show comedy acts of all time, and might also be familiar from the Grumpy Old Men TV series.
Others include Craig Campbell, Pros from Dover, Boothby Graffoe and the rather bizarre looking The White Wine Arts Trail who seem to dress up in suits with fish heads…I’ve no idea why either.
There’s a full whats-on guide for the Bath Comedy Festival and with most of the performances taking place during the evenings, you can also soak up a little more of what the city has to offer in the way of visitor attractions in Bath.
If you’re planning to head down and stay, there are currently still rooms available in two Bath Travelodges and plenty of other hotels around Bath too.
