Recently I came across a web site which tries to promote and find gardens which are accessible to people with all kinds of disabilities, so wanted to share that here.
The site is called Accessible Gardens, and as the name suggests, it is a guide created by garden designer Bella D’Arcy along with members of the public who submit reviews and new gardens to include.
Accessible Gardens doesn’t just cover wheelchair access issues which are obviously one of the biggest disability potential problems to visiting public gardens, but also other complications such as gardens well suited to anyone who’s blind.
The guide does have quite a few gaps in it currently, but as it’s purely funded by Bella and created in her own time this isn’t too surprising. One woman can only be in so many gardens in a year, despite any womanly multi-tasking abilities. :)
Hopefully this will be of use to anyone who needs for example a garden with wheelchair access or a sensory garden for visual impairment and if you know of a garden to review, I’m sure Bella would love to hear from you.

Tnank you ofr the lovely piece on my website – you have hit the nail right on the head!
best wishes
Bella
No problem – only came across it purely by accident and it sounded like something that fills such an important gap in the market that this had to be publicised. Good luck with the future growth.
