The main royal news recently has been about Prince William and Kate Middleton, but May 12th was another historic day in the royal household when Queen Elizabeth became 2nd only to Queen Victoria for length of her British Monarchy reign.
Today is her 21,646th day on the throne following the unexpected death of her Father George VI, made famous recently by the film The Kings Speech. Put another way, she has been the British Monarch for the past 59 years and 111 days, topped only by Queen Victoria who reigned for a whopping 63 years and seven months.
However, assuming Queen Elizabeth doesn’t resign, it seems likely by September 2015 at the age of 89 she will become the longest ever serving British monarch since records began over 1000 years ago!
