Self-catering in Edinburgh – head straight for the farmers market

A city which boasts 5 Michelin star restaurants has plenty to offer those who are staying in one of the multitude of self-catering apartments in Edinburgh both in terms of eating out, or perhaps cooking in.

If the latter is your forte, then we recommend this little video from VisitScotland who shows just how much you can find in terms of fresh ingredients around Edinburgh, especially on the Edinburgh Farmers Market which is held every Saturday below Edinburgh Castle.

There might be a few surprises to be had, such as Venison Haggis which pre-dates any version involving sheep and one assumes tastes 100x nicer, although is perhaps 10x more expensive.

Enjoy and do remember while you’re there to visit some of the masses of visitor attractions in Edinburgh.
