The tail-end of half term co-incides with Halloween, and so many activities during the half term week like to focus on that theme. Here’s just some of the ghoulish half term fun that’s to be enjoyed in Durham this year:
22nd October 2011 – Hamsterley Forest
Hand craft a broom from local birch in time for the witches’ flying season
22nd-30th October 2011 (daily) – SpookFest at Adventure Valley
Everything from creepy bush tucker trials to phantom trails and pumpkin carving.
23rd October 2011 – Killhope, the North of England Lead Mining Museum
Spooky woodland walks with story tales by Adam Bushnell.
25th-28th October 2011 - Bowes Museum
Family Halloween fun. Wizard fun on the 25th, mask making on the 27th and Halloween decorations on the 28th.
28th-29th October 2011 – Beamish
Halloween at Beamish. With The Town and Pit Village swamped with petrifying creatures, only the brave will dare to knock on the doors to trick or treat…

Scary fun from 3pm until dusk.
31st October 2011 – Locomotion: The National Railway Museum at Shildon
