Celtic Connections – One of the biggest Winter music festivals in Britain

1,500 artists, 300 events, 18 days and 14 venues is how this Glasgow based music festival bills itself and from the city which knows how to party, this is a huge event which has been running since 1994.

Running from the 13th to 30th January around the city of Glasgow, the festival is a mixture of celtic music such as Jimmie Macgregor’s Gathering and The Alison Brown Quartet alongside more contemporary musicians such as Scottish band The Waterboys and the The Chieftains.

There are also big names at this years festival including a special performance by Welsh superstar Tom Jones.

If you like any of the following types of music, there’ll be something at Celtic Connections for you – Americana, folk, fusion, gospel, indie, jazz, traditional celtic or “world music”. But we couldn’t possibly include everything that is going on in one blog post, so for more information see the Celtic Connections web site.
