New UK theme park attractions coming in 2011

Two new theme park attractions are due to open in the UK in 2011, both aimed at kids and both featuring well loved characters from TV and books.

Blackpool: The first is the new six-acre Nickelodeon Land which is being built in Blackpool, as part of the Blackpool Pleasure Beach resort. Full details have yet to be released about all the rides, but two which have been confirmed include the SpongeBob’s Splash Back and Rugrats Lost River river flume ride.

Many more rides and other attractions are expected in the new extension cost over £10 million to build and should open in April 2011.

Drayton Manor: The theme park in Staffordshire already includes the extremely popular Thomas Land, but this is being extended with more rides, along-with a Thomas Land Hotel. The hotel will include Thomas & Friends rooms where you can have breakfast with your favourite characters. Presumably this will include sitting with Sir Topham Hatt (known to most of us as The Fat Controller).

A little more information is available at the Nickelodeon Land web site and Drayton Manor web site.
