Fire at Blair Castle, Perthshire

Sadly there has been a fire at the clock tower at Blair Castle near Pitlochry, Perthshire.  It has completely destroyed the historic clock tower but luckily spread no further.  Numerous motorists passing on the A9 reported the blaze to the emergency services yesterday evening. The quick response of the emergency services and fire breaks between the tower and the rest of the castle have thankfully prevented the damage from becoming more widespread. It is not the first time that the clock tower has caught fire. It had to be completely re-built after a fire tore through it in 1814.
