The best Al Fresco dining experiences in London

There’s something rather appealing about dining below the stars, or having lunch in the open air but if a picnic in Hyde Park just doesn’t cut it for you, why not try one of these London al fresco dining experiences.

- Terence and Vicki Conran’s Boundary restaurant has been a major London success since it opened in 2009 with the cool and contemporary design you would expect from these design icons. One of the highlights of the restaurant is the open air bar and 48 seat designer grill and spectacular 360 degree views of East London. As a combination of style meets top quality cuisine in a stylish setting, this is very hard to beat.

- Inn The Park is as the name suggests, situated in the heart of St James’s Park in London. The restaurant extends the trendy al fresco idea, with ingredients sourced from rare breeds farms, artisan food producers and specialist fishermen to ensure the very best quality of cuisine. The restaurant is situated at ground level, and can be indoor or outdoor depending on the opening of the glass doors.

- Serpentine Bar & Kitchen is another restaurant set in a park, Hyde Park in this case, beside the famous Serpentine lake. Opened in 2009, the restaurant has a wide range of cuisines from sandwiches & cream teas to mussels with shallots and cider to name just two.

- St. Christopher’s Place is actually collection of bars and restaurants just off Oxford Street with continental style pavement dining. If you want to be close to the shops or simply indulge in some people watching, there is sure to be somewhere suitable from French, Italian, Spanish and even Japanese restaurants.

- The River Café offers Michelin-starred authentic Italian cuisine for that true taste of the Mediterranean. During the summer, the restaurant has open air seating where you can enjoy dishes such as wood-smoked fish and wild mushroom risotto.

Hopefully that has wetted your appitite to go al fresco this Summer. For even more options, see the VisitLondon Al Fresco Dining blog page.
