Five of the most photogenic places in London

You might think of London as being an urban sprawl, but I recently came across some photos from the 501 Places blog which show why London is also one of the most photographed cities in the world.

Places that stand out:

The first image is the Peace Pagoda in Battersea Park which brings a little of Asia into the heart of the capital. There’s just something about the shape, possibly by design, which makes those walking by want to stop and take a few minutes to relax. Maybe there should be more of these around London to calm the city?

The right hand image is from Portobello Road showing one of the multi coloured buildings which seem to fill this London street. An even better photo of Portabello Road is here.

London Parks:

London has many parks, both royal and those run by the London Mayor’s office – each with its own character. Two of my personal favourites are Holland Park and Hyde Park. Below we have a picture of Kyoto Garden in Holland Park which has to be one of the most tranquil locations in the entire city.

This photo is of the giant Serpentine lake in the middle of Hyde Park:

Sheer Quicky:

One of the most quirky images you could take in London isn’t the Gerkin (Swiss Re Building) or Lloyds of London Exchange, but the less well known Traffic Light Tree in Docklands, next to all those tall Canary Wharf buildings in East London. There’s also a picture of the traffic light tree during the day.

Whenever you’re in London, remember to take your digital camera as you never know what gems you might be able to capture to show the rest of us.
