The BBC’s Countryfile are running a competition for you to stay in the elegant and romantic Augill Castle in East Cumbria, but the competition closes tonight.
Augill Castle is situated just off the A66 trans-pennine route giving easy access from both the M6 and A1. The location offers some of the most stunning views in Northern England as those who have travelled over Stainmore can testify, but you’re still within easy driving distance from J40 M6 (Penrith) of the Scottish Borders, Carlisle, the Lake District and County Durham.
The winner will not only get to stay in the castle, but also included is a year’s lake cruise pass on nearby Ullswater, a visit to Dalemain Historic House and Gardens, a cream tea for four people at The Inn on the Lake in Ullswater, a Taste of Eden hamper and a choice of adventure activities.
For the competition question and to enter, see the Countryfile competition web site.
Pssst, a big hint to the answer is under the first photo on this page about Mallerstang Valley, but don’t tell anyone we said that.
Good luck!
