If you’ve always had dreams of being the next Oasis, Wet Wet Wet or Stone Roses then an old sawmill in Cornwall might be just up your street.
Getting wet wet wet might be quite easy as the converted sawmill (known as “Old Sawmills”) is easiest accessed via its own creek, but as long as you stay in the boat, you’ll arrive at one of the most sought-after recording residential studios in the country.
Luckily, you don’t even need a song worthy of a sofa advert to have your chance to be a rock star at Sawmills as they now offer us mere mortals the chance to rock out with self-catering breaks and professional studio time to lay down a few tracks.
It doesn’t matter whether you could be the next Robbie Williams or perhaps sound more like the Crazy Frog, with a little tweaking of knobs and faders, it’s possible to make anyone sound good apparently….either that or John who twiddles these is just very nice to guests.
Whatever your dreams and aspirations, there is probably no better place to sing and play your heart out. As Old Sawmills isn’t like Abbey Road, a bit over-commercialised, dropping it into conversation next time you’re having drinks with the Rolling Stones might help in your road to Wembley. Just don’t tell them we told you…
If you’d like to know more about this studio, why not wander over to Dixie Williams – Old Sawmills review on the Guardian and you even get a unique chance to listen to him and his “band” playing at the Sawmills.
