A to Z of the UK: your favourite place in the UK beginning with the letter A?

Over the next 26 days, we are going to ask you, our readers, to tell us your favourite places in the UK… letter by letter.  It’s an opportunity for us to share our knowledge and hopefully discover one or two gems along the way.  So, to kick things off, we’d like to hear what your favourite place in the UK is, that begins with the letter ‘A’.  It can be a city, a town or a tiny village.  Or it can be something more specific such as a particular tourist attraction.  Whatever or wherever it is, please post a comment and tell us what makes it special…

A is for Ashridge Forest in the Chilterns, which just happens to be on the hill above the lovely village of Aldbury, also in the Chilterns.

Arundel will always hold a special place in my heart as I enjoyed the time I spent there making new friends, but it is where I also met my husband. Can’t wait to return for another visit!

Ambleside. A lovely Lakeland Village . Lots of great places to stay, eat, and drink, with a superb cinema complex too, all in the middle of the most beautiful countryside with the best walks in the UK.
