There’s something about running into a freezing cold sea around Christmas to New Year, and it seems the people of Tenby in South Wales don’t want to be left out so hundreds of them take to the water on Boxing Day.
Maybe there is a secret cure to hangovers, or perhaps it’s just a good excuse for a brandy or two afterwards, but if you’re on North Beach in Tenby around 11am on Boxing Day you’ll see hundreds of bathers running down the beach into the sea. Most will be raising money for various charities during the event, so there is a little more logic to this.
Plenty of them will be dressed as Santa and various other fancy dress costumes, so if you fancy a dip and are in the Tenby area, why not pop over to the Tenby Boxing Day swim web site.
Other events around this time include the Peel New Years Day Dip and the Christmas Day Peter Pan Cup.
