London Olympics is just 18 months away

In 18 months time, the London Olympics will open and millions of people will be watching how well our capital hosts the games.

That must be a slightly scary prospect for the organisers, as the games always seem so far in the future, but now after all the hype and talk we’re on the countdown to the start of what could be London’s finest hour.

To ensure that people are absolutely aware of the ticket sale dates, the organisers asked athletes Phillips Idowu and Alastair Cook to promote the sign-up process for Olympic Games tickets.

Phillips Idowu hopes that people will show early support for the games and especially Team GB. At the launch he said:

I’m from East London so it’s literally my home Games. It’s the perfect opportunity to win that gold medal and I hope people from across the country will sign up to come cheer on my teammates and I.

People can signup for access to the ticketing web site in advancewhich will apparently ease the ability of users to purchase tickets, but the actual tickets don’t go on sale until the 15th March for the main games and Friday 9 September for the Paralympic Games.

You can register on the London Olympics tickets site.

In case you’re wondering how paniced the organisers are, or not – there are webcams from various London Olympic sites here. For an idea of just how big the main Olympic Stadium really is – see the stadium web cam where even the trucks look like matchbox toys.
