Need a London Olympic ticket – try German tour operators

If you didn’t get tickets in the first round of applications for London 2012, you might want to pop over to web site of German tour operator Dertour who are selling tickets on a first come first served basis.

It has emerged this weekend that around a million of the 8.8 million tickets went to organisations abroad, but because of EU Competition rules, anyone in the EU can buy tickets from any of these official suppliers. Reports now say that a German owned company called Dertour are selling Olympic tickets to German’s and Brit’s, even though the tickets are officially intended for sports fans in Germany.

A few other tour operators are allowing the same sortof approach, although they need to have connections within Europe for this to be legit. The men’s 1,500m finals for example is being sold for around £132 each.

This doesn’t exactly help the millions of people who have applied for tickets via the official UK web site, but need to wait until June 24th to find out what tickets they actually got, although the ticket sales web site does state that the tickets will be cancelled if money isn’t available.

Original details from the London Evening Standard.
